TEACHING LOCATION OF THE DEGREE PROGRAM

Required pre-requisites include: good human contact and teamwork skills, ability to analyze and solve problems, ability to independently acquire new knowledge and information while being able to critically evaluate it.
In addition to the scientific knowledge useful for attendance in the first year of the course, the resource should also possess good attitudes and sound motivational components, which are important for the formation of a "good dental hygienist" who can properly relate to the social responsibilities required by institutions.

Those with a five-year high school diploma or other qualification obtained abroad and recognized as suitable may be admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Medical Radiology, Imaging and Radiotherapy Techniques.

Admission to the Bachelor's degree program has a restricted access and involves an entrance exam consisting of a nationally-scheduled multiple-choice test.

At the top of the list of those employed one year after graduation, today and for the past several years, are those earning a degree in Dental Hygiene.

The health professions that will be most in demand in the future are those for the elderly, related to sensory organs, such as the masticatory system.
In particular, professions that gravitate to private practice, with 90 percent employment, will have more demand and higher incomes.

The Course of Study aims to provide the scientific basis and theoretical and practical preparation necessary for the practice of the profession of Dental Hygienist.

Within the first year after graduation, 100 percent of graduates are employed full-time or part-time. The predominant professional outlet appears to be private practice.

The Bachelor's Degree aims to train health professionals to carry out tasks in the prevention of oral-dental affections on the instructions of dentists and physicians-surgeons legitimized to practice dentistry, in patients of developmental, adult and geriatric age.

Those who obtain the degree:
- carry out dental health education activities and participate in primary prevention projects within the public health system;
- collaborate in the compilation of dental records and are involved in the collection of technical and statistical data;
- provide tartar ablation and root polishing as well as topical application of various prophylactic means;
- provide education on the various methods of oral hygiene and the use of appropriate diagnostic means to highlight bacterial plaque and dental patina motivating the need for periodic clinical checkups;
- indicate the norms of rational nutrition for the purpose of dental health protection.

Those who earn a degree in Dental Hygiene have the opportunity to collaborate with dentists and surgeons licensed to practice dentistry in public health facilities (Hospitals, A.S.L.) or private health facilities (Clinics, Nursing Homes), either as employees or on a freelance basis.
