Precision Medicine
The development of medical/pharmacological therapies has always focused on the "average" patient without particular attention to the characteristics of the individual patient. Precision Medicine aims to modify this vision by taking into account the individual specifics of the individual and their disease, providing the tools to better understand the complex mechanisms underlying the disease and the patient's conditions, to predict which treatments will be most effective.

Educational goals
The PhD Programme in Precision Medicine of the Department of Excellence in Molecular and Translational Medicine aims to provide theoretical/practical interdisciplinary training in the biomedical sciences to create professionals equipped with methodological tools and knowledge of the advanced strategies necessary for the implementation of patient-centered diagnosis and treatment. In particular, the objective of the PhD programme is to train research doctors in the following fields: bioinformatics and biomedical informatics; "omics" sciences (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and interactomics); identification of personalized biomarkers and drugs; identification of new disease mechanisms; development of innovative disease models; development of advanced diagnostic technologies.
