TEACHING LOCATION OF THE DEGREE PROGRAM
In order to be admitted to the study course in Midwifery, it is necessary to hold a five-year upper-secondary school diploma or another qualification obtained abroad and recognised as suitable.
The Degree Course has a programmed number of students according to Law no. 264/99; the number of admissions is determined on the basis of national programming and the availability of teaching staff, teaching facilities (classrooms, laboratories) and care facilities that can be used to conduct practical activities, applying the parameters and directives set by the University.
An admission test is required for admission, so selection is based on the outcome of the test itself; the latter consists of multiple-choice questions (normally concerning general culture, logical reasoning, biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics) and will be taken on the date indicated in the specific notice.
Midwifery training in our city and province represents a consolidated tradition: the Midwifery School, annexed to the Spedali Civili of Brescia, was opened in 1955 and, with the succession of numerous university reforms, in 1996 it was transformed into the University Diploma Course and then into the Degree Course in Midwifery, both of which are activated at our university.
During the three years of the Degree Course in Midwifery, you will acquire specific professional skills in the field of obstetrical, gynaecological and neonatal care. To this end, training activities are to be carried out through a clinical internship, attending care facilities identified by the Degree Course Council during the defined periods and for the total number of university credits established in the Documento annuale di programmazione didattica.
The three-year degree in Midwifery entails qualification to practice the profession.
Choosing our university means living clinical learning experiences that guarantee comparison with different care and professional models, both in hospital and territorial facilities.
Obstetrics graduates are responsible for obstetrical, gynaecological and neonatal, preventive, curative, palliative and rehabilitative care of a technical, relational and educational nature.
The functions concern the promotion, education, protection of the health of the woman, the couple, the child and the community; as well as care, therapeutic education, management, training, research and counselling.
In the obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatal fields, the working context includes: public, private and/or accredited health facilities, under dependency and freelance arrangements; individual and/or associated practices, companies, cooperatives, non-governmental organisations, multi-specialist outpatient clinics and home care.
If you have already attended a university course, you can apply for recognition of your previous career:
- if you would like to change course within the University of Brescia, please consult the Changing Course page
- if you come from another university, please consult the Transferring page
When your application has been accepted, you can complete the form and send to the UOC Gestione Carriere, e-mail address ammcentr@cert.unibs.it.
