Dental Hygiene

The Degree Course aims to train health professionals capable of carrying out preventive tasks of oral-dental disorders on the instructions of dentists and physicians-surgeons licensed to practice dentistry, in patients of developmental, adult and geriatric age.
The ultimate goal is to attain sufficient skills and experience, combined with the ability to self-evaluate, to responsibly address and solve priority health problems from a preventive, diagnostic, prognostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation perspective.

The Degree Programme in Dental Hygiene prepares healthcare professionals who work in the prevention of oral diseases and the promotion of oral health. Dental Hygienists provide preventive care and oral hygiene services under the referral of dentists and physicians authorised to practise dentistry, in accordance with current professional regulations.

The programme provides students with a strong foundation in the basic sciences, helping them understand the biological and pathological processes that affect individuals at different stages of life, from childhood to older age, and that are relevant to clinical practice. Students also develop proficiency in at least one European Union language in addition to Italian, enabling them to communicate effectively within their professional field and in everyday professional contexts.
