WHY STUDY ECONOMICS AND DATA ANALYSIS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BRESCIA?
The course provides the theoretical and interpretative tools necessary for the management of financial intermediaries, risks and investments. It prepares graduates to analyze, measure, and manage the various types of risk that affect the operations of banks, institutional investors, and corporate finance departments, combining an economic, business, and mathematical-statistical approach.
Effective risk control is critical in the financial system, and this program equips students with the tools necessary to effectively manage risk management processes. It also provides a solid and advanced foundation in economics and finance.
Graduates typically find employment in banks, asset management companies, securities firms, insurance companies, other financial intermediaries, and in the finance departments of industrial and commercial enterprises.
The Master’s degree programme in Finance and Risk Management aims to provide students with advanced training to enable them to undertake highly specialised work in the areas of analysis, measurement, assessment and hedging of risks arising from financial market dynamics.
The Master’s degree in Finance and Risk Management provides the theoretical and interpretative tools necessary to analyse and manage the risks affecting the operations of banks and, more generally, of financial intermediaries in the credit, securities and insurance sectors, as well as the activities of institutional investors and the finance departments of companies operating in non-financial sectors.
The programme has the following specific learning objectives:
- to develop the logical skills required to interpret and understand financial phenomena (both national and international) and the processes of financial innovation that influence the dynamic manifestation of risks;
- to optimise the specialist skills required for analysing, from a risk-averse perspective, the functioning and performance of financial markets and the risk profiles of banks, institutional investors,
other financial intermediaries (credit, securities and insurance) and the finance departments of industrial and commercial enterprises;
- to complete an interdisciplinary education in economics, quantitative analysis and business, geared towards the management and hedging of risks affecting both the activities of financial intermediaries and the financial decisions of non-financial firms;
- to achieve a high level of proficiency in mathematical and statistical tools, IT and quantitative methods based on the use of data collected within the financial system.
The approach to measuring risks affecting the financial system, together with the assessment of performance and the pricing of instruments traded on financial markets, in a manner consistent with the principles of
risk management, therefore constitute the core areas of study in the Master’s degree in Finance and Risk Management. To achieve these objectives, it is essential to acquire a high level of proficiency in the most advanced methodologies developed in this field within the economic, quantitative and business disciplines, as well as in the legal principles relating to the supervision of the financial system.
