Educational goals
The educational objectives of the PhD Program in Molecular Genetics, Biotechnology, and Experimental Medicine (GMBMS) can be summarized as follows:
- To provide doctoral students with multidisciplinary training, ensuring—thanks to the expertise of the PhD Board of Examiners—a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the main topics in biomedical research, both basic and applied, with reference to diagnostics, translational research, and forensic medicine.
- To develop solid skills in the design, implementation, analysis, and interpretation of experimental data as part of the research projects undertaken during the doctoral program.
- Promote teamwork and interaction in research settings, as well as scientific communication skills, through dedicated activities such as journal clubs, periodic research progress reports, and active participation in course teaching.
- Strengthen the ability to write scientific articles related to research projects developed during the doctoral program.
- Encourage, where possible, the direct involvement of doctoral students in the design and writing of research proposals (grant writing).
- Encourage training and research periods at laboratories other than their home laboratory, particularly at international institutions, to expand scientific, interpersonal, and adaptability skills in advanced research settings.
- Strengthen language skills, particularly in English, to foster mobility and integration into an increasingly international scientific environment.
The PhD Programme is organized into three curricula.
