Educational goals

The academic proposal aims to equip doctoral students with knowledge, understanding, analytical skills, and critical evaluation of the transformations of complex contexts in which both institutional and corporate responsibility are exercised, within the interrelated dynamics of local, national, and global markets. This is with a view to the joint objective of contributing to the creation of efficient, effective, and innovative governance systems for the promotion of social well-being, in accordance with the principles of sustainability (in line with values 2, 3, 4, and 5 set forth in the University Strategic Plan 2023-2028). Through a multidisciplinary approach, the PhD Programme aims to promote the acquisition of the essential tools for developing an interdisciplinary and transversal perspective. This is evidenced not only by the overall name of the teaching modules ("Cross-cutting Courses") and the topics covered, but also by the underlying theme of the PhD Programme, which revolves around the intersectoral and multidimensional nature of the concept of sustainability and the associated social responsibility, according to the Sustainable Development Goals. At the end of the training course, PhD students will have developed an autonomous capacity for understanding, interpretation and critical elaboration based on the combined use of economic and legal categories, as well as the respective analysis and evaluation methodologies (qualitative and quantitative), for a systemic analysis of the organizational, managerial and administrative realities in which companies (including the third sector) and public bodies operate and for the identification of the best-suited tools to promote the values underlying sustainability, from an economic, environmental and social perspective (PSA, LS Ricerca 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, pp. 60 ff.).
