Educational goals
The PhD Programme in Precision Medicine, taught entirely in English, aims to train highly qualified researchers capable of operating in highly complex and rapidly evolving scientific, clinical, and industrial contexts. Through a curriculum that intertwines different disciplines and approaches, the program provides advanced theoretical and practical skills in biomedical sciences, focusing on the design of increasingly personalized and patient-centered diagnostic and therapeutic models. The PhD Programme aims to prepare highly qualified professionals, equipped with a solid methodological and technological foundation, capable of successfully navigating academic research, the clinical field, and industry.
PhD students will have the opportunity to explore cutting-edge research areas, ranging from bioinformatics and biomedical informatics to 'omics' sciences (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and interactomics) and nanotechnology. The PhD Programme also includes the study of the molecular mechanisms of complex diseases, the identification of novel biomarkers, and the development of targeted therapies and next-generation diagnostic technologies. By integrating molecular knowledge with sophisticated technologies, the PhD Programme provides the tools necessary to address the most complex challenges of precision medicine. The ultimate goal is to train researchers capable of working in an integrated and multidisciplinary manner, promoting innovative solutions for increasingly personalized, predictive, and effective healthcare.
