WHY STUDY BUSINESS CONSULTANCY AND TRAINING FOR PROFESSIONALS?

It allows you to acquire in-depth and evolved skills in professional areas that are highly relevant in supporting corporate decision-making: governance choices, social responsibility and sustainability, administration, strategic planning, management planning and control, internal control and risk management, corporate finance, performance evaluation, measuring and reporting corporate performance, extraordinary operations, restructuring processes, auditing.

The professional outlets are manifold, as the skills acquired are indispensable in all economic realities, private and public, profit and non-profit, financial and non-financial.

It is possible to choose between three curricula: the one in Private Practice, which provides the knowledge to enter the world of the accounting profession and to work in the field of business consultancy in support of companies and other economic organisations; the one in Management Control, which prepares students interested in occupying positions of responsibility in the administration and control of companies and the one in Sustainability, aimed at the student who wishes to contribute to the development of fair and sustainable corporate governance and actively participate in sustainability measurement and reporting processes..

It is possible to take advantage of the agreements stipulated between the University of Brescia and the Orders of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Brescia and Mantua, which allows students to carry out their internship concurrently with the master's degree course and to be exempt from the first written test of the State examination.

As part of the programme’s key learning outcomes, the Master’s degree programme in Business Consultancy and Independent Practice aims to train graduates who possess advanced specialist knowledge and skills in the field of economics and business, appropriately complemented by a grounding in law, economics, social sciences and quantitative analysis.

This programme, which combines subject-specific modules with the development of transferable skills, enables graduates to practise as independent professionals and consultants, as well as to hold senior positions in the administration, control and finance departments of any type of organisation: private or public, profit or non-profit, operating at local, national or international level.

Upon completion of the Master’s programme in Business Consultancy and Independent Practice, graduates will be able to:

• identify, analyse and effectively address issues relating to corporate governance, paying particular attention to the processes of setting objectives, developing strategies, managing risks and monitoring business processes and results, whilst balancing the interests of different stakeholder groups in accordance with principles of short-term efficiency and effectiveness, as well as cost-effectiveness and long-term sustainability;

• support organisations in creating sustainable value, including through the implementation of extraordinary transactions, and facilitate the restoration of their capacity to generate wealth following a crisis;

• understand the characteristics and dynamics of the economic environment and interpret their effects on business management;

• to prepare transparent reports on corporate performance, in compliance with national and international accounting standards, and capable of meeting the information and assessment needs of senior management and external stakeholders, including through the integration of the economic, social and environmental aspects of management and the appropriate presentation of group relationships;

• to apply and develop methods of economic and business analysis, including within the context of scientific research.

The programme is characterised by its primary focus on advanced topics in corporate governance, strategy and control, finance, extraordinary transactions, corporate restructuring and the reporting of both economic and non-economic results for companies and groups.

In particular, the course of study equips students to combine the principles of cost-effectiveness, sustainability and transparency, which form the foundations for business success and serve as benchmarks for the effective practice of freelance and consultancy activities.

Alongside a mastery of economic and business disciplines, graduates with a Master’s degree in Business Consultancy and Independent Practice possess an in-depth understanding of the national and international legal framework that defines and governs business operations.

Furthermore, the programme enables students to develop skills in economic analysis and quantitative-statistical analysis, as well as to acquire knowledge in the social sciences that rounds out their cultural and professional profile.

Thanks to the harmonious combination of different disciplines, graduates develop the ability to tackle, with an integrated approach, both the issues specific to consultancy and the accountancy profession, and the administrative and managerial challenges faced by companies operating in a highly dynamic and volatile economic, social and competitive environment.

The degree programme also encourages students to take part, on a voluntary basis, in work placement schemes at various types of business organisations, primarily with the aim of combining practical experience with the preparation of their Master’s thesis and to facilitate their entry into the world of work.
