In the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery you will acquire the basic knowledge necessary for the exercise of the medical profession with a multidisciplinary and integrated view of the most common problems of health and illness.
The degree course aims to provide clinical competences and skills such as
- Correctly collecting an adequate clinical history
- Carrying out an examination of the patient's physical and mental state
- Performing basic diagnostic and technical procedures, analysing and interpreting their results, in order to correctly define the nature of a problem
- Carry out appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic strategies correctly in order to safeguard life and apply the principles of evidence-based medicine
- Exercise correct clinical judgement to establish diagnoses and treatments in the individual patient
- Recognise any imminently life-threatening condition in the patient
- Manage common medical emergencies correctly and independently
- Caring for people effectively, efficiently and ethically, promoting health by avoiding illness and treating existing illnesses
- Identify prevailing health problems and advise patients taking into account physical, psychological, social and cultural factors
- Provide guidance on the appropriate use of human resources, diagnostic interventions, therapeutic modalities and technologies dedicated to the treatment of diseases
Curricular traineeships will take place from the third year onwards, mainly in the fields of internal medicine, general surgery, paediatrics, general medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, medical and surgical specialities, general medicine, public health and diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy.
To this end, you will carry out professional training activities by attending the healthcare structures, for a total number of at least 60 CFU.
The Degree Course also offers the possibility to carry out internships of one's choice to allow the opportunity to evaluate different disciplines and deepen those already experienced in the curricular internships.
